Hang Curtains On Vertical Blinds

Hang Curtains On Vertical Blinds

Vertical blinds make your sliding glass doors look really nice, and they keep some of the heat and cold out; but not all of it. In the winter, that large amount of glass can get very cold; in the summer it is blistering hot. Placing curtains over the vertical blinds will help regulate the temperature in your home, and save energy.

Instructions

1. Measure your window. Measure the width, and then the length. Curtains are sold this way. Thus, a 50 x 72 door is not the same as a 72 x 50 door.

2. Choose curtains that are full length, and lined. Purchase curtains that are about 3 inches longer than your door. Thus, if your door is 72 inches long, then 75 inch long curtains is what you will need.

3. Purchase a curtain rod, about 2 inches longer than the width of your door. Thus, if your door is 50 inches wide, your curtain rod needs to be 52 inches long.

4. Purchase curtain rings, with clips, to match your curtain rods. You will need at least a dozen, depending upon the size of your door and the style curtain you have.

5. Measure again, and place a mark about 4 inches above and 2 inches outside the top corners of your blinds, on each end. Screw your curtain rod supports into the wall at each mark.

6. Place the center support for the curtain rod in the center of the window, also about 4 inches above the vertical blind.

7. Clip the rings to the top of the curtain, at equal intervals. Slide the rings onto the curtain rod.

8. Set the curtain rod on top of the supports and adjust the curtain.
