Insulate A Double Wide Mobile Home

Double wide mobile homes need insulation, too.

Perhaps even more importantly than a standard home, it is very important that a double wide mobile home is properly insulated. The main reason for this is the fact that the underbelly of the mobile home has great exposure to air from outside. By insulating a double wide mobile home beneath its skirt, you can prevent heat from being lost through the floor, making for a more energy-efficient building. Though normally done by professionals, you can easily insulate your home if you're careful.

Instructions

1. Crawl beneath your double wide mobile home. Lay down on your back to make working there easier.

2. Take the crowbar and pry the edges of the belly board gently to loosen and remove it. Do not damage the board because you must place it back when you are finished. The belly board is thin and will cover the entire bottom of your home.

3. Press the insulation up against the floor, paper side up. Push wire beneath the insulation and either staple it in place or hammer it in place. Having one person hold up the insulation and having the other secure it makes the task easier.

4. Install the insulation until you have covered the whole underbelly.

5. Staple the belly board back where it was placed.
