Get Your Aim Unsuspended

American Online (AOL) Instant Messenger, also known as AIM, is an instant message service that allows you to talk to friends around the world instantly. Anyone can sign up for this service, however your account can become suspended for several different reasons. A suspended account will prevent you from signing into AIM and accessing the messenger service in any way, rendering your account useless until the problem is resolved. Fortunately, there are several ways to un-suspend an account.

Instructions

1. Reset your AIM password. This method will work if someone else has gotten into your account and violated AOL's terms. If there was suspicious activity on your AIM account, AOL will suspend it to make sure nothing malicious is going on. Resetting your account password proves that you are the user who is meant to be using the account, not a hacker. To reset your password, go to AOL.com and click the AIM icon in the top right corner. Click the Forgot Password link located at the bottom of the page. Enter your username and follow the steps given to reset your password. Once the change is made, the suspension will be lifted and you will be able to log into your AIM account as normal.

2. Check parental controls to make sure the account is not on a time limit. While a time limit isn't the same as being suspended, it does cause the same suspension error. Sign in to your master account on AOL and type Parental Controls in the keyword box. Click on the affected username and adjust the parental time limit accordingly.

3. Email AOL directly at TOSGeneral@aol.com. AOL automatically suspends accounts they feel are violating their terms of service. Often this is not the case and can be corrected. If you feel that you weren't breaking any AOL rules, the best way to fix your account is to email AOL directly. Be sure to include your AIM account name and what you were doing at the time of the suspension. You should hear back from AOL within 72 hours.
