Fixing your dryer doesn't require a repairman.
The Kenmore Ultra Care dryer is a product that gives us the convenience of drying our clothes in the comfort of our own homes. Although this series of dryers can last for up to ten years without fail, there comes a time when the dryer will run into a problem or two. Most dryers do not need professional care, as the majority of breakdowns can be fixed with a couple of tools found around the home or with a quick trip to the hardware store. The problem probably lies with a broken power cord or a broken dryer belt.
Instructions
Changing The Dryer Belt
1. Check the lint trap to make sure that it is not full. Empty it if needed.
2. Bring the dryer into a spacious work place and remove the control panel from the unit by unscrewing the screws holding it on the unit.
3. Remove the control panel and remove the screws that are holding the front panel on the top of the dryer. These will be located on the back of the dryer in the top right and left corners of the back panel.
4. Lift the top of the dryer off of the unit. Go to the bottom of the front panel and remove the screws holding the front panel on the unit. Remove the front panel from the unit.
5. Locate the idler pulley on the bottom right corner inside the unit. Pull the idler pulley toward you and remove the dryer belt from the unit. Replace the dryer belt by wrapping it over the idler pulley and then wrapping it over the dryer drum.
Power
6. Check the power cord on the back of the dryer. Go to the back of the dryer and unplug the power cord from the wall. Run your fingers up and down the power cord to search for any rips in the cord.
7. Check the pins on the end of the power cord to make sure there is not any corrosion.
8. Check where the wires make contact with the dryer's electrical panel on the back of the unit and make sure they are properly connected. You can tell this by the color-coding on the electrical panel and the colors on the wires.
9. Check your circuit breaker to make sure that a circuit hasn't been tripped. Your breaker box should be labeled for which breaker controls the washer and dryer. If it is turned to the OFF setting, reset the breaker.
10. Replace the front panel on the unit and then replace the top panel. Replace the control panel and then plug your unit into the wall. Test the unit.
