Sears Holdings Corporation owns the Craftsman brand name. Craftsman riding lawn mowers are equipped with features such as adjustable gauge wheels, automatic transmissions and spring-loaded deck lift systems. These lawn mowers have a full two-year warranty that covers the cost of replacement parts and labor. The frame and front axle assembly are covered by a five-year warranty. Before requesting warranty service, troubleshoot the mower.
Instructions
Does Not Start
1. Fill the fuel tank. Remove the fuel cap and fill the tank with gasoline. Replace the fuel cap.
2. Raise the hood and remove the air filter. Clean or replace a dirty air filter.
3. Replace the spark plug if the mower still does not start. Raise the hood and remove the spark plug with a spark plug wrench. Install a new spark plug.
Engine Does Not Turn Over
4. Press the clutch/brake pedal with your foot while starting the mower.
5. Recharge the battery. If the battery will not hold a charge, replace it.
6. Clean the battery terminals. Sprinkle baking soda on the terminals and pour a carbonated beverage over them.
Power Loss
7. Raise the cutting height or reduce your speed.
8. Clean the underside of the mower if grass builds up under the deck.
9. Check the oil level. Raise the hood and remove the dipstick. Wipe the dipstick with a paper towel to remove the oil. Replace the dipstick and take it out again. Check the oil level on the dipstick. Add oil if needed. If the oil is dirty, change the oil.
10. Raise the hood and remove the fuel filter. Replace it with a new filter.
Vibrations or Uneven Cutting
11. Turn the lawn mower on its side and clean the bottom of the deck to remove built-up leaves or grass.
12. Inspect the blade. If the blade is worn or bent, turn the blade bolt counterclockwise with a wrench and remove it. Replace it with a new blade. Turn the bolt clockwise to tighten it.
13. Tighten all bolts on the bottom of the mower with a wrench.
Grass Does Not Discharge Properly
14. Increase or decrease the engine speed on the mower.
15. Wait for the grass to dry before mowing. Wet grass will build up around the blades. Turn the mower on its side and remove grass buildup.
16. Ensure the tires are properly inflated.
