Many different cultures have produced a wide variety of breakfast foods throughout history. Some cultures produce extremely unique breakfast foods. However, due to cultural exchanges over time, some breakfast foods have been adopted by other cultures. This is the case with both crepes and omelettes. In actuality, crepes and omelettes are very different and are made of different ingredients.

History of Crepes

Crepes can be traced back to the pancake, which is basically a flat piece of unleavened bread. Crepes and their analogs can be found throughout Europe under different names. The word crepe is a French word that means crisp, due to the very thin nature of the crepe compared to a pancake. In the 1930s, a French chef introduced crepes to America.
