Choose A Stand Mixer

If you love to bake, a stand mixer can be your best friend. A good stand mixer can handle everything from buttercream frosting to bread dough. Not all stand mixers are the same, so in order to find a high quality stand mixer, follow a few important steps.

Instructions

1. Choose a powerful model. A good stand mixer should have at least 325 watts of power. This ensures that the mixer can handle everything from a simple cake mix to thick cookie dough. If the mixer isn't powerful enough, you will burn out the motor.

2. Make sure there are several speeds available. A stand mixer that has low and high settings will not give you the control you need to prepare several different recipes. Instead, look for a model that has 10 speeds. This will ensure that the cake mix gets mixed easily without ending up on the walls.

3. Look for a large mixing bowl. A large mixing bowl ensures that you're able to make several different recipes. For example, you'll need a large mixing bowl if you plan on using your stand mixer to make bread dough.

4. Buy a model that can use attachments. Being able to add attachments to your mixer allows you to do more in your kitchen. For example, some models have pasta makers, ice cream makers and even meat grinders that can be attached to the front of the mixer.

5. Pick a sturdy model. If a mixer has a lot of power, it should also be sturdy. This ensures that your mixer doesn't dance around the counter top when mixing cookie dough.

6. Read reviews. As with any other kitchen appliance, you must follow this step. A good stand mixer will cost at least $200. This isn't a purchase you want to make without doing the research and that includes reading reviews.
