Juice Frozen Fruit

Custom mix frozen fruit favorites for a cold juice drink.

You can turn frozen fruits into fresh fruit juice with a high-powered commercial blender. Commercial blenders have powerful motors, sharp blades and strong plastic or metal jars designed to reduce ice cubes to slush in a few seconds. The heat generated by the fast moving blades actually melts the tiny pieces of frozen fruit as they are chopped. Unstrained juice made with a commercial blender contains all the fiber and vitamin content of the fruit flesh.

Instructions

1. Add frozen fruit to the blender jar until it is three-quarters full. Pour in apple juice or water until about one-third of the frozen fruit is submerged. Cover the blender jar and lower it onto the base motor.

2. Crush the frozen fruit with low-speed pulses for five seconds. Increase the blender speed to high to liquify the fruit. Tilt and shake the blender jar with a hand on the lid to make sure everything hits the blades.

3. Pour the juice into a glass and drink it pulp and all if you prefer it that way. Line a chinois or fine mesh strainer with cheese cloth and strain the juice into a mixing bowl if you like a pulp-free juice. Store any leftover juice in the refrigerator for up to one week.
