Make Chestnut Flour

Use a mini food processor to make your own chestnut flour.

The addition of chestnut flour can deliver a big punch of flavor to cakes and pie crusts and can also be used as a coating for chicken or fish. As an added bonus, chestnut flour is low in carbohydrates and gluten free. Although chestnut flour can be purchased ground, you can make your own with the help of a mini chopper food processor, which is a small version of a regular food processor. You will need 1 lb. of chestnuts to create 1/4 cup of nut flour. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Freeze the whole chestnuts for at least four hours until they are solidly frozen.

2. Place four frozen chestnuts in the mini chopper.

3. Push the mini chopper's pulse button for 3 seconds and lift, repeating until the nuts have been ground into coarse flour. Empty the chopper and repeat with another four chestnuts at a time.

4. Store the ground flour in the freezer for up to six months.
