Prepare A Ham And Swiss Cheese Quiche

Many people think that a quiche is difficult to make so they only eat them in restaurants. Really this ham and swiss cheese quiche is quite easy. You can prepare several at once and store them in the freezer until you are ready to serve them. It's a quick way to have supper made ahead- even a supper that's good enough to serve to guests with a bottle of wine and a fresh salad followed by cut fruit for dessert.

Instructions

1. Chop enough leftover ham to make at least one cup. Also peel and chop one onion. (Of course, if you don't like onions you can leave it out.)

2. Place the pie crust into a pie pan. Pull the crust up over the outer rim of the pie pan and press it down with your thumb so that the edge is fluted.

3. Spread the chopped ham, chopped onion, and 2 cups of shredded Swiss cheese in the bottom of the pie crust so that it is evenly distributed.

4. Crack one egg into a bowl and beat it with the electric mixer until it is a lemon yellow color. Add each egg one at a time and beat until the mixture turns the same lemon yellow. Then pour in 2 cups of heavy cream. Mix until the cream is combined with the eggs. Then stir in 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg, a dash of salt and 3 or 4 drops of hot sauce. Pour this mixture into the pie crust over the cheese, ham, and onions.

5. Bake the quiche in a 325 degree oven for around 40 minutes or until, when you insert a knife into the center of the quiche, it pulls out clean. The top of the quiche and the pie crust edge will be slightly browned. Serve sliced with a salad.
