Cook Chili In A Crockpot

Garnish slow-cooked chili with shredded cheese.

If you have a busy day ahead of you, consider preparing a crock pot of chili before leaving in the morning so your family can have a warm, filling meal that night. Slow cooking foods allow seasonings and spices to meld, resulting in tastier and more flavorful dishes. Enhance the chili with your favorite flavors, such as garlic and peppers, to make a meal you'll be rushing home to enjoy at the end of the day.

Instructions

1. Brown 2 lbs. of ground beef in a skillet over medium heat. Drain the beef and pour it into a 5-qt. crock pot.

2. Add 2 drained cans of kidney beans, one 15-oz. can of tomato sauce, one can of chopped green chilies, three chopped tomatoes, one chopped onion, one chopped green pepper, three minced cloves of garlic, 2 tbsp. of chili powder and salt and ground pepper to taste.

3. Stir the ingredients well. Place the lid on the crock pot. Cook the chili on "low" for eight to 10 hours, or "high" for four hours.

4. Serve the chili with shredded cheddar cheese, sour cream and saltine crackers or tortilla chips.
