Build A Wine Rack Wall

A wall wine rack functionally divides a room and organizes your favorite wine.

Having a wine rack as a wall can create new ambiance in the living space, as well as provide a room with a functional partition. Walls that will actually be designed for one's home may vary in size. The plans shown here are for a wall that is four feet wide and eight feet high, but materials can be added or subtracted to fit individual needs. The construction time for this rack is about three hours. Because of its design, not having to nail or screw down intersecting boards will save on cutting time, and materials.

Instructions

1. With the plywood standing vertical, measure six inches from the left on the upper left corner. With your chalk line, strike a line down the sheet of plywood on the veneer side.

2. Measure four inches from this line and strike another line down the sheet of plywood. Repeat this process until the board has eleven lines, each four inches apart.

3. Start from the top, measure six inches down and strike a line horizontally across the plywood, intersecting the other lines.

4. Measure four inches from this line and continue the process until you have 23 lines.

5. Using the hole punch, drill out holes where all the lines intersect.

6. Once all the holes are drilled on one sheet of plywood, do the same to the other sheet of plywood, and then wipe off the excess chalk.

7. Cut one 2 by 6 by 8 into two pieces that equal 45 inches. Screw one board on the ceiling with the four inch screws, and screw the other to the floor directly below.

8. Screw the other two 2 by 6 by 8 boards on the ends of the boards that are attached to the ceiling and the floor.

9. With the veneer side of the plywood facing out, screw onto the frame with the two inch screws, and repeat the process on the other side.

10. Apply wood stain and let it dry.
