Supply A Kitchen Cupboard With Basic Ingredients

There are some basic food staples that no kitchen cupboard should be without. These staples can be used as ingredients for meals or quick snacks when you need to grab something fast. These items are non-perishable and can be kept for a good amount of time in a cool, dark pantry.

Instructions

1. Stock up on spices and herbs that you can use to add flavor to the dishes you are cooking. Basil, oregano, bay leaves, cinnamon, garlic power and onion powder are some basic herbs and spices used in many dishes.

2. Buy staples for baking such as flour, sugar, salt, pepper, yeast, baking powder and baking soda. These are basic ingredients you will need to use when you decide it's time to bake treats.

3. Include oil and cooking spray for your pantry. When you are cooking, you will often need oil or cooking spray for your skillet. When you bake, you will need to use cooking spray on your dish so your meal doesn't stick to the pan.

4. Add canned vegetables and fruits to your pantry. These make excellent side dishes to a meal and can also be used as an ingredient in many dishes. Consider adding tomatoes, green beans, corn, peaches and pears.

5. Put chicken stock and canned soups into your pantry, as well. Chicken stock is used as an ingredient in many dishes, and canned soup can make a quick meal when you are in a rush.

6. Include other ingredients that are commonly used such as canned beans, bread crumbs, cereal, coffee, crackers, dried fruits, extracts, gelatin, nuts, pasta, tuna and peanut butter.
