Reheat Jasmine Rice

Cook a large batch of Jasmine rice and reheat it later.

If you are fond of recipes that include basmati rice but don't want to pay the expensive prices, experiment with using jasmine rice instead. The flavors of the two types of rice are very similar and jasmine rice is much less expensive. Jasmine rice comes in white and brown varieties, with brown rice being a whole-grain food. Cook extra rice when making recipes to reheat later in the week. You will save time not making a fresh batch every time.

Instructions

1. Measure 1 cup of cold cooked rice into a heavy duty pot. Stir in 2 tbsp. of any cooking liquid you desire. You may use water for basic reheating, or try a broth or tea for added flavor.

2. Place the lid on the pot tightly and put the pot on a stove burner. Turn the burner on medium and allow the rice to heat for 4 to 5 minutes.

3. Lift the lid and check the rice after 4 minutes to make sure that the rice is hot enough. Fluff the finished rice with a fork and serve.
