Compare Chocolate Fountains

Chocolate fountains can be used with fresh fruit displays.

Chocolate fountains are used for dipping cubes of fruit or cake and other desserts into melted chocolate fondue. Chocolate fountains have built-in heaters and a pump keeping the melted chocolate mixture flowing at a constant temperature.

Size

You can buy chocolate fountains according to the size of the machine, the volume of chocolate that it can hold or the number of people it can serve. If the chocolate fountain is for home use, then one that serves around eight people or has a volume of around 2 lbs. of melted chocolate is ideal. If the fountain will be a centerpiece for a party of around 25 people, then one with a capacity of between 4 lbs. and 6 lbs. of melted chocolate is useful so you won't have to refill it constantly. Catering companies will require a commercial model to serve hundreds of guests at one time.

Features

Most chocolate fountains have a heated basin for the melted chocolate mixture and a mechanism for the continuous flow of chocolate. Other features to look for are if the unit has dishwasher-safe parts or temperature controls, or if the machine is easy to set up and break down.

Price

The price range for most chocolate fountains is between $100 and $200, with some smaller models around $40. Commercial-grade models that serve more than 100 guests cost between $1,000 and $3,000.
