Homemade Shrimp Dip

Turn shrimp into a delicious dip.

Shrimp dip is a simple seafood dip which is perfect for any party, from a casual impromptu get together to a fancy black tie affair. The dip doesn't taste fishy, so often people who aren't seafood fans still enjoy this recipe. Shrimp dip can be made in a matter of minutes and stays good for a day or more after preparation when refrigerated.

Instructions

1. Wash and peel 1/2 pound of medium to large sized shrimp. Fill a medium-sized pot halfway with water. Bring to a boil. Drop in the peeled shrimp. Cook for five to six minutes. Remove the pot from heat and strain the shrimp.

2. Chop 1/4 cup of green onions. Place these in a food processor along with a package of cream cheese, 1/4 cup of sour cream, the cooked shrimp, 1 tablespoon of ketchup, and 1/2 teaspoon of horseradish. Pulse in the food processor until the mixture is the consistency of a chunky soup.

3. Remove the mixture from the food processor and place in a mixing bowl. Chop one stalk of celery into small pieces. Using a spatula, fold the celery into the mixture. Add a dash of Tony's Creole Seasoning. Fold the seasoning into the mixture.

4. Cover the mixing bowl with plastic wrap and place in the refrigerator to chill for at least 15 minutes.

5. Remove the mixing bowl from the refrigerator and spoon into a bread bowl. Decorate with garnish as desired.
