Make Spoon Bread

Instructions


1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.


2. Mix the corn meal, salt and water in a sauce pan.


3. Boil the mixture for 5 to 10 minutes, stirring continuously.


4. Stir the milk into the corn meal mixture.


5. Beat the egg with a whisk until the yoke and whites are well blended.


6. Add the egg and oil to the sauce pan while stirring the mix.


7. Chop the garlic. Blend it with the cheese and add to sauce pan. Use 1 tsp. of garlic powder in place of the garlic clove if no fresh garlic is on hand.


8. Grease the bowl with butter or baking spray. The bowl can be ceramic or metal, but not plastic.


9. Pour batter into the greased bowl.


10. Place in the preheated oven and bake for 40 minutes or until firm.


11. Serve from the baking dish with a large, wooden spoon.
