Cook Halfinch Crab Cakes

Crab cakes are a traditional shellfish treat seen often in New England. If you want to have a taste of Maryland, try your hand at making crab cakes. These combine crab, egg, bread crumbs and spices into patties that are then pan fried and served as an appetizer. Try these the next time you want a spicy appetizer.

Instructions

1. Combine the egg, Worcester, mustard and spices in the food processor until they are mixed.

2. Drizzle the 5 tbsp. oil into the mixture from Step 1 while the food processor is still running. Continue to mix until an emulsion is formed. It should have the consistency of mayonnaise. Put this into a separate bowl.

3. Add the crab, onion, bell pepper and parsley to the mixture. Stir to combine them.

4. Mix 1 cup bread crumbs into the bowl.

5. Wet your hands and shape the crab cake mix into 1/2-inch tall patties. Cover the crab cakes on all sides with the leftover bread crumbs.

6. Heat the skillet with 2 tbsp. oil in it over medium heat until hot.

7. Place the crab cakes into the hot oil and fry them for 5 minutes per side until golden brown. Serve warm with mayonnaise if desired.
