Make An Oldfashioned Banana Cream Pie

Use three to four bananas in your pie.

Pie is a great addition to any family or holiday occasion. For your next get-together, try making a creamy and delicious old-fashioned banana cream pie. It doesn't take a lot of effort, and the pie is worth it.

Instructions

1. Prebake a frozen or homemade pastry shell in the oven according to your pie recipe directions. You can use a graham cracker crust if you prefer. Let it cool.

2. Combine 2 tablespoons butter, 3/4 cup sugar, 1/8 teaspoon salt, 1/3 cup flour and two well-beaten eggs. Add the scalded milk slowly, stirring the mixture constantly.

3. Cook the mixture in a double broiler stirring constantly over hot water until thick and smooth. Be patient because this takes at least 20 minutes or more. Add 1 teaspoon of vanilla and stir.

4. Thinly slice three to four ripe bananas and add them to the mixture. Pour the mixture into the baked pastry shell.

5. Serve with whipped topping or meringue. Refrigerate the pie when completed until ready to serve.
