Make A Really Good Pizza Sauce

Customize your pizza sauce with your favorite seasonings.

Pizza has three main parts -- crust, sauce and toppings -- and all three are important for a fantastic pizza. When you make your own pizza, you can save money and get it just the way you like it. This basic pizza sauce starts with canned tomato sauce and can be customized it any way you like, so feel free to experiment. This sauce is also great as a dip for breadsticks or in a meatball sandwich.

Instructions

1. Pour the tomato sauce into a cooking pot. Toss in the spices, olive oil and garlic. Stir thoroughly.

2. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until some of the moisture has evaporated and the sauce has noticeably thickened.

3. Allow your pizza sauce to cool to room temperature before using or storing it in the refrigerator. It will keep well for 3 to 4 days and will have a better flavor if allowed to sit overnight and give the ingredients time to meld.
