Make Fudge Out Of Bricks Of Chocolate

There's nothing like homemade fudge.

Making fudge out of bricks of semi-sweet chocolate used to mean slowly melting it over a double boiler - but that is no more. Bricks, or squares, of chocolate make the base of a simple two-ingredient microwave fudge that takes about five minutes to make, plus chilling time. Use semi-sweet chocolate for this recipe, not unsweetened, which requires adding sugar and measuring the temperature with a candy thermometer. Bricks of semi-sweet chocolate can be found in the baking aisle in supermarkets.

Instructions

1. Place the chocolate bricks and the condensed milk into a microwaveable bowl.

2. Microwave on high for two minutes. Stir, and microwave on high for one minute.

3. Stir the fudge mixture until the chocolate is fully melted. If desired, add 2 tsp. of flavored extract, such as vanilla, mint or almond.

4. Pour the mixture into the prepared 8-inch square pan.

5. Chill the fudge for two hours before cutting and serving.
