Ideas For Serving Seafood Dips

Add contrasting color to your seafood dip by garnishing with fruit.

Seafood dips are easy to come by and even easier to serve. Create your own or search for premade options. Many grocery store delis prepare their own seafood dips as well as offering prepackaged items in the seafood section. If these options don't sound pleasing, consider hiring a caterer to create the dip for your next event.

Plating

When serving seafood dips, put effort into plating. Plating helps the aesthetic appeal of your dip while holding the contents. Consider putting your dips into colorful ceramic bowls. Place the bowls out for your guests on their own or put them on platters with complementary garnishes or products used for dipping. If you choose to use garnishes, put garnishes on top of the dip in the middle or around the edge of the bowl.

Transporting

Know if your dip should be served hot or cold. If you made the dip yourself, this information will be located in the recipe directions. Store-bought or catered items may or may not come with directions, so be sure to ask if you are unsure. Keep the dip as close to the appropriate temperature as you can. If you will be transporting the dip, either keep it in a cooler or on a hot plate. Do not leave dip out for longer than one hour before you serve it, as the seafood within the dip could easily spoil.

Complementary Options

Offer items that complement seafood dip. Set out an array of crackers or mini bagels for dipping. For spicier dips, consider tortilla chips as well. Fresh vegetables are also great dipping options as they are low in fat and can potentially complement hot and cold seafood dips. Consider using carrots, cauliflower, fresh peppers and broccoli. Broccoli is especially complementary with seafood dips that also contain cheese.

Occasions

As seafood dips are meant as an appetizer, they can be used for elegant affairs, or just for a snack for your family. When serving the dips, pay special attention to garnishes. Use cilantro, fruit or parsley to spice up the look of your dip. Some people choose what to eat based on what the food looks like, so aesthetics are important.
