Satin Quilt Instructions

A homemade satin quilt is an enjoyable fabric project you can complete without even using a needle and thread. In fact, this allows you to create multiple quilts to give as gifts for any occasion. Knowing make one yourself provides the opportunity to stay warm, add stylish accent to your home and save money, since comforters and quilts can cost a pretty penny.

Instructions

1. Cut two equally measured segments of satin fabric. Make the cuts to the approximate comforter size you need. Check a similar linen and bedding size for guidance. For instance, a king sized satin quilt will need two satin segments measuring 96 inches by 110 inches each.

2. Spread one of the segments of satin out in front of you with the right side facing downward.

3. Cut a segment from the batting roll measuring 1 inch smaller on all sides then the measurement of each satin sheet.

4. Layer the batting over the segment of spread-out satin, centering it. Squeeze a line of industrial strength fabric glue along all edges of the sheet of batting. Fold the outer edge of the satin fabric inward by 1 inch, overlapping over the glued edges. Press on the edges firmly to adhere them to the batting. Let the segment dry for 20 minutes.

5. Spread the second sheet of satin fabric out in front of you with the right side facing downward. Fold the edges of the fabric inward by 1 inch on all sides. Squeeze a line of fabric glue along all edges of the fabric, on top of the already folded fabric.

6. Flip the batting-covered sheet over, with the batting facing downward, on top of the second sheet of fabric. Do this evenly, matching all of the sides. Press along all of the edges. The end result is a no-sew satin quilt.
