Make Perfect Rice

The perfect rice is fluffy and soft.

There are many ways to make rice, all producing different results. If you want to make the perfect rice, you have to learn from the best. Many countries throughout the world use rice as their staple food. In these countries, cooking rice has become a science. Take it from them that cooking the perfect rice follows a clear-cut step-by-step process. With the aid of a rice cooker, you too can make perfect rice.

Instructions

1. Wash your hands. You will be using your hands to rinse the rice.

2. Prepare the rice for rinsing. Pour the amount of rice you wish to serve into the removable bowl that comes inside the rice cooker but do this with the measuring cup, keeping track of how many cups of rice you add. Fill the bowl with enough water to cover the rice.

3. Rinse the rice. Use one hand to churn the rice throughout the water. When the water becomes off-white and cloudy, pour the water out while using your hand to keep the rice in the bowl. Refill the bowl with water and repeat the process until the water ceases to become cloudy while churning the rice. You are done after you pour the water out, leaving only wet rice in the bowl.

4. Add the appropriate amount of water to the bowl. Add water with the measuring cup, adding exactly the same amount of cups that you added for the rice.

5. Begin the rice-cooking process. Place the bowl back into the rice cooker. Close the rice cooker and press the "start" button or switch.

6. Let the rice-cooking process finish. The rice cooker will let you know by means of some sort of noise or switching of lights that the cooking process has finished. At this point, the rice cooker is in "warm" mode, which keeps the rice warm.

7. Wait 10 minutes. Even though the rice cooker has indicated that the cooking process has finished and the rice is edible, your goal is to cook the perfect rice. Thus, you should let the rice dry in the rice cooker for 10 minutes so that your rice is fluffy, not gooey.

8. Serve the rice. Use the rice spoon that comes with the rice cooker to serve.
