Dry Mushrooms

Mushrooms can be dried and stored.

Mushrooms are a great source of nutrients and minerals, and a tasty addition to a number of recipes. From cooked meals like soups and stews to fresh salads that require no cooking, mushrooms can be a perfect addition for both. Mushrooms can also be dried and stored in case you don't want to use them right away. By following a few guidelines, you can dry and preserve mushrooms that you can store until you want to use them again.

Instructions

1. Use a brush to gently clean the mushrooms. If they are extremely dirty, wipe them with a damp paper towel or cloth. Spread them on a flat surface and allow them to fully dry.

2. Cut the mushrooms into 1/8-inch-thick slices .

3. Start the process of dehydrating the mushrooms. The mushrooms dry at temperatures between 100 and 150 degrees Fahrenheit. Spread the mushroom slices over a baking sheet and place them into the oven. Set the temperature at 150 degrees. Cook the mushrooms for an hour. The mushrooms become brown and brittle when they are dried. Remove them from the oven once they are brown.

4. Allow the mushrooms to cool to room temperature on the cooling rack.

5. Place the mushrooms in an airtight container. Store the mushrooms in a cool, dark place.
