Ship wine from Paris to New York.
France is a popular place to taste and purchase wine. Many people who visit Paris buy wine to add to their collection. However, due to stricter airline policies, you cannot carry liquids onto the plane with you; it must be kept in checked luggage. Many instead choose to ship wine from France to New York, as shipping the wine is easier and safer than checking it in your luggage. However, New York and federal laws prohibit you from sending the wine through regular mail services; you must use an international shipping carrier like FedEx, UPS or DHL.
Instructions
1. Purchase the wine you wish to ship. You can buy wine from liquor stores, markets or directly from vineyards.
2. Safely package the wine. Wrap each bottle individually in bubble wrap. Use two layers to keep the bottle from breaking in transit. Purchase wine shipping boxes from a liquor store or winery. If none are available, purchase boxes that can fit two or three bottles tightly but comfortably. Put the wrapped wine in the boxes, and secure the boxes tightly. Address the boxes with your address in New York, or with the address in New York to which you are shipping the wine.
3. Take the boxes to a post office in Paris. Tell the post office agent you are shipping wine to the U.S., and use an international shipping carrier such as FedEx or UPS. Do not use the regular French or U.S. mail service. Pay the required postage, customs fees, taxes and any other fees, and purchase insurance for the packages if possible in case any of the bottles break. Keep your tracking number for reference.
4. Receive the wine when it arrives in New York, or contact the person you sent the wine to and make sure the wine arrived. If the wine did not arrive, contact the U.S. and French postal services and ask them to track your package using your tracking number.
