A whisk is one of the most versatile utensils found in the kitchen. Most whisks are made of stainless steel, bamboo or plastic composite. You can use your whisk in various ways to improve your favorite recipes.
Instructions
1. Choose a whisk to avoid lumps when mixing liquids and solids. A good example of this would be mixing flour into meat drippings for gravy.
2. Aerate egg whites with a whisk. Egg whites can froth up to eight times their natural consistency.
3. Mix dry ingredients, such as flour, baking soda and salt together. It is easier when a whisk is utilized.
4. Stir frothing matcha. Frothing matcha, a tea brewed from fine green powder, is made easier using a tea whisk made of bamboo. Bamboo whisks can be made from a one piece of bamboo, that is carefully divided into 80 segments.
5. Monitor the temperature of ingredients with a temperature whisk. This is especially important when making custard-based foods, meringues or delicate sauces.
6. Use a beverage whisk to mix or blend drinks better than using a swizzle stick.
7. Stir thicker batters with a ball whisk. This whisk does not have looped wires, making it easier to remove the thicker batter. The weighted balls on the end of the whisk thoroughly mixes all textures of ingredients.
8. Create a light mixture, such as a meringue or mousse, using a whisk with a ball. This whisk consists of a ceramic ball in a sphere-shaped whisk that is enclosed in a bigger balloon whisk.
