If your child has an easier time staying focused with animated educational materials, BrainPOP offers short, easy-to-understand movies on a wide variety of educational topics. Its science section features movies on dozens of topics. You can either search for a particular topic, such as birds, clouds or mountains, or by category, such as Energy, Matter and Chemistry or Famous Scientists.
Fact Monster
Fact Monster is an online fact source that includes an encyclopedia and a dictionary. While Fact Monster spans all topics, its Science section provides an extensive database of quickly searchable facts arranged by category, such as biology, chemistry and earth sciences.
