Pick Out An Inexpensive Bottle Of Wine

You don't have to spend a lot of money to enjoy a delicious bottle of wine. If you are on a budget, you don't have to drink swill. These helpful hints on pick out an inexpensive (and good ) bottle of wine will impress even your most finicky wine drinking friends.

Instructions

Pick out an Inexpensive Bottle of Wine

1. Think about what kind of wine or wines you want to buy. For example, are you buying the wine for yourself, a special occasion or for a gift? For seasoned wine drinkers, keep a wine journal of wine notes as you shop around for wine. Ask yourself questions like: Do I prefer red or white wines? Do I lean towards California wines? Have I ever tried an Australian Shiraz? Would my friend who drinks Chardonnay also like a Viognier or Sauvignon Blanc? What food pairs well with Pinot Grigio?

2. Research wine sales in advertisements in your local newspaper or on-line. Look at two-for-one specials at discounted membership club stores or bulk beverage/liquor stores.

3. Check out specialty gourmet, wine and liquor stores. These stores sometimes run sales on more popular wines (because these bigger wineries produce larger quantities). Ask the wine salesperson questions about the less expensive wines and compare and contrast prices.

4. Attend local wine tastings or wine events. Sometimes wineries will offer special deals at these wine tasting events. Ask friends, family and colleagues for less expensive wine recommendations. Research wineries, wholesale wine sites and wine tasting review web sites.

5. Take your time to pick out wine that appeals to you. Don't feel pressured by sales people to spend a lot of money on wine. Buy a case (or cases) if you find/taste an inexpensive wine you really like. When you buy cases of wine, it's usually less expensive. For example, a chain specialty grocery store carries both red and white wines for $1.99 a bottle. This wine has grown in popularity amongst wine drinkers and customers are buying this wine by the case. This wine is not only inexpensive but good quality as well. Join a Wine of the Month Club. Research less expensive wineries and wine clubs. Sometimes a wine club is less expensive and you get to pick and choose what you like.
