Drink Liquor

An ounce of bourbon, a shot of tequila, a flask of whiskey--drinking liquor is a favorite American pastime. If your poison of choice has been beer or wine, the hard stuff might take some getting used to. Here's enjoy drinking liquor.

Instructions

1. Decide if you want your drink straight, on the rocks or if you'd rather try a cocktail. Those who are new to liquor might have better luck with a mixed drink like a Cosmopolitan, Screwdriver or Bay Breeze. A White Russian goes down easier than vodka straight. Ice dilutes the potency of hard liquor slightly, but you'll still be tasting straight liquor.

2. Pick a place to enjoy your liquor. A party has a festive atmosphere, while a bar or nightclub is darker and probably rowdier. If you're a liquor novice, have some experienced friends around to make sure you don't drink the wrong combination of liquor or get too intoxicated.

3. Watch your liquor intake. A drink or two--or even three--usually is fine for an average-sized adult, but if you've never had liquor before, take it one drink at a time, on a full stomach. A person weighing between 100 to 160 lbs. is considered above the legal limit after about three drinks, but even if you've just had one, take a taxi home if this is your first liquor experience.

4. Stick with the same base liquor all night, if you have more than one drink. It's okay to have a White Russian and a Screwdriver, both made with vodka, but throw in a martini and you could be asking for trouble.
