Extract Fruit Juices Just Before Serving

Make your own fruit juice.

Many people prefer to have fresh juice and to avoid anything store-bought. The only way to do this is to squeeze and extract the fruit juice right before you drink it. Most fruits can be squeezed to extract juice, and the process changes minimally depending on the fruit. Some harder fruits, such as coconuts and pineapples, will need to be peeled or husked beforehand as the juicing equipment will not be strong enough to penetrate them.

Instructions

1. Wash the fruit thoroughly under warm water. Some fruit still contains fertilizer or pesticide on the skin. If the fruits were grown naturally they may still have manure and harmful bacteria that could end up in your juice if the fruit is not washed well.

2. Cut the fruit into smaller pieces and insert them into the juicer. Some fruits contain rinds that may be edible and it is advised to keep them intact when juicing as the vitamins and nutrients are beneficial to your health. The rinds themselves will not end up in the fruit drink.

3. Run the juicer and keep a steady hand on the lid until juice ceases to come out of the spout. You can add a bit of filtered water into the juicer to make the process smoother. Juicers are similar to blenders so it is very important to keep the lid down to prevent any juice or pulp from splashing out.

4. Wash out the juicer when you are finished with it to prevent any leftover fruit from rotting inside. Bacteria can also build up inside of the appliance, which may be transferred into the next drink you make with it.
