Pico games are online games, controlled using the mouse and keyboard.
The "Pico" series is a compendium of online games which are built using Adobe Flash animation. The series was created by Tom Fulp, proprietor of newgrounds.com, a large repository of Flash games, and gained widespread popularity for its irreverant, scatological humor and cartoonish violence. The series also stirred some controversy, with its detractors claiming that although the games are intended for adults, they may also appeal to children.
Pico's School
Pico's School was the first game in the Pico series. The player controls Pico, an ordinary high school student who becomes involved in a battle to save his school from a gang of disgruntled students loosely modeled on the notorious Columbine High School "Trenchcoat Mafia." The game is a mix of "point-and-click" strategy (wherein the player directs his character by clicking on certain key items on the screen) and traditional "shoot-em-up" action.
Pico vs. Uberkids
This second game in the Pico series is a direct sequel to Pico's School. The player must again control Pico, as well as his two friends Nene and Darnell. The three characters must battle against the Uberkids, cloned students genetically engineered for mental and physical superiority, who have been brought into the school to replace the enemy students killed by Pico in the first installment. There is much less graphic violence in this episode. However, there are still adult themes present. Each character controlled by the player must engage the Uberkids in several games of "Rock, Paper, Scissors" and the losing character must then play one round of Russian Roulette. The object is to ensure all your players win enough games to stay alive until the end.
Pico vs Bear
In "Pico vs Bear," Pico is called upon to rescue some fellow high school students who have been taken hostage by a giant bear. The game parodies the popular children's TV series "Bear in the Big Blue House," and features several parodic versions of characters from that series, all of whom are in league with the bear. The player must fight his way past each of these characters and rescue the hostages. This game is a mix of traditional "shoot-em-up" and puzzle platformer formats, as the player must collect items and combine them in order to escape different situations and defeat certain enemies.
Pico Fan Tributes
As well as the above three canonical Pico games, there are dozens of Pico-inspired games created by amateur Flash designers aiming to pay homage to the character's popularity and cult appeal. Examples include "Resident Pico," a loose parody of popular Capcom game "Resident Evil" in which the player must battle an endless onslaught of zombies, and "Pico Unloaded," wherein Pico must fight even more genetically engineered Uberkids.
