Dip Strawberries

Dip Strawberries

Chocolate-covered strawberries make an elegant addition to a party. They give the impression that the host or hostess went to a significant amount of trouble. Impress your guests by making your own dipped strawberries. It is a fairly simple process that begins by choosing your dipping sauce.

Instructions

1. Melt chocolate in the top pan of a double boiler, with simmering water in the bottom pan. You can use chocolate chips or a chocolate bar, such as Hershey's, which has been broken into pieces. A splash of liqueur or coffee will add flavor to your sauce. Or use another favorite recipe.

2. After the chocolate melts, remove from the heat.

3. Choose large, plump, firm, ripe strawberries with a healthy green top.

4. Wash the strawberries in cold water.

5. Dry each strawberry with a paper towel. They need to be dried before dipping.

6. Insert a toothpick into the center of the green top of each strawberry. The toothpick will be used as a handle when dipping the individual strawberries.

7. Lay a sheet of wax paper on a cookie sheet.

8. Hold a strawberry by the toothpick and dip into the warm, melted chocolate. Coat the lower half of the strawberry, leaving the top half and greenery uncovered.

9. Lift from the chocolate, and allow the chocolate to set for a second before laying the strawberry on the wax paper. If necessary, re-coat with chocolate before laying the strawberry on the wax paper. Repeat with remaining strawberries.

10. Remove the toothpicks after the chocolate has set and cooled. Be careful not to damage the coating while removing the toothpick.
