Enter Cooking Contests

Cooking contests are a test of culinary skills, creativity and your passion for food. Preparing for such a contest requires patience and weeks of practice. There are various steps to follow before finalizing a recipe and entering a cooking contest.

Instructions

1. Browse your local newspaper or surf the Internet to get information on upcoming cooking contests. Once the dates are announced, contact the event sponsor to inquire about the food categories and entry process.

2. Examine the contest rules and eligibility requirements. Competition rules and regulations usually include certain cooking method restrictions. Pay attention to the various criteria on which a recipe will be judged. Choose a food category among the options provided. Register for the competition and pay any entry fee. Confirm that the event organizer received and approved your entry.

3. Select a recipe to enter into the contest. Make a list of recipes that comply with the contest rules and criteria. Finalize your entry after trying out a number of dishes. Ask family and friends to taste the food and give honest feedback. Create a catchy name for the dish.

4. Type or print your recipe on white paper if the contest calls for an early submission of recipes. Add a photo of your dish to attract the judges' attention. Make an additional copy of the recipe for your use.

5. Reach the venue early on the day of the contest to set up your table. Make sure you have all your equipment and ingredients. Contestants that are late lose credibility in front of the judges.
