The RB-1050 accepts a line-level stereo input.
The Rotel RB-1050 is a dual channel power amplifier. Rated to provide 70 watts per channel, it is somewhat unique in that it features an extremely robust power supply, large heat sinks and a toroidal power transformer. Rotel has also added line-level outputs, which allow the RB-1050 to operate in a multi-room installation where one music signal needs to pass through multiple amplifiers.
Power
The RB-1050 consumes 250 watts of power and can produce 70 watts per channel into a speaker with a standard 8 ohm impedance rating. It produces this power across the audible spectrum of 20 to 20,000 hertz, and can do it in both channels at the same time.
Distortion
With only 0.03 percent total harmonic distortion at full power into one channel, the RB-1050 is what most audiophiles would call a "clean" amplifier. Its distortion rating when both channels are driven at full power is only 0.06 percent, still well below where most people would be able to hear it.
Noise
Not only does the Rotel RB-1050 have low distortion, but it features a low noise floor. With a signal-to-noise ratio of 116 decibels, it is essentially silent. One hundred sixteen decibels is equivalent to the difference between a quiet office and sticking your ear in an operating jet engine.
Inputs and Outputs
The RB-1050 includes left and right positive and negative large binding posts for speakers. It also has a single stereo line-level input for signals from a preamplifier. For use in custom or multi-room installations, it features a 12-volt trigger with pass through so that it can be automatically turned on, as well as a line-level stereo output so that it can be daisy-chained with other amplifiers. It has a two-bladed non-grounded AC power connection for use with the included power cord.
Measurements
At 17 1/8 inches wide, the RB-1050 will fit in most standard 17-inch audio racks. It is also 13 1/8 inches deep and 3 5/8 inches tall, although its front panel is only 3.1 inches tall. It weighs almost 18 lb.
