Bake satay in the oven, or grill it on the barbecue it for added flavor.
Satay is a dish that originated in Indonesia and is now found throughout southern Asia, particularly in Thailand. This dish is essentially marinated meat --- usually chicken --- that is placed on a bamboo or metal skewer for cooking and traditionally served with a spicy Thai peanut sauce called "nam jim tua." If you plan to cook satay as an appetizer for a meal, or even as the main course, it is a very flavorful yet simple dish to prepare, especially when it comes to slicing the chicken for Gai Satay --- the chicken variation of this dish.
Instructions
1. Place your chicken breasts on a cutting board and trim off any excess fat from the meat. Use a small knife to remove any white, fatty areas from the meat and discard them.
2. Slice the meat into long, thin slices that are approximately ¼-inch thick and 2-inches long.
3. Pat the pieces dry with a piece of paper towel. Once seasoned, the meat is ready to be skewered for cooking.
