Homemade Beef Stew In A Slow Cooker

Beef stew in a crock pot is a classic way to come home to a hearty and tasty meal for your whole family. A fall and winter favorite, it doesn't have to be the same meal every time. By changing a few simple ingredients, you can make many different varieties that can become your family's new favorites.


Classic slow cooker beef stew


Mix together 2 lbs. of cubed stew meat with 1/2 cup of flour, 1 tsp. salt and 1/2 tsp. pepper. Place in bottom of crock pot. Peel and cube four potatoes, three carrots, one onion and one stalk of celery. Add to crock pot. Pour 1 1/2 cup beef broth over all the ingredients; add 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce. Cover and cook on low for 10-12 hours. This is tasty with warm bread or biscuits.


Irish stew


Mix together 2 lbs. of cubed stew meat with 1/2 cup of flour, 1 tsp. salt and 1/2 tsp. pepper. Place in bottom of crock pot. Peel and cube four potatoes, three carrots and one onion. Add to crock pot along with 1 cup of green peas. Pour 1 cup of Guinness Stout and 1/2 cup of cider over all the ingredients. Cover and cook on low for 10 to 12 hours. Serve with soda bread or other warm crusty bread.


Mexican beef stew


Mix together 2 lbs. of cubed stew meat with a half cup of flour, 1 tsp. salt and 1/2 tsp. pepper. Place in bottom of crock pot. Add one can of drained and rinsed black beans, one can of drained sweet corn, one can of Rotel tomatoes and 1 cup of rice. Pour 1 cup beef broth over all the ingredients. Cover and cook on low for 10 to 12 hours. Serve with corn bread or warm tortillas.
