Types Of Quiche

Quiche has limitless possibilities, so recipes for the dish are plentiful. Depending on your dietary needs, you can make it as healthy (emphasizing vegetables and low-fat milk) or indulgent (adding rich cheeses and meats) as you prefer for the crusted dish.

Quiche Lorraine

This is the dish where all quiches originated from. It typically calls for heavy cream, milk, eggs, bacon or ham and cheese.

Quiche Alsacienne

If you simply add onions to a quiche Lorraine, you have now turned it into quiche Alsacienne.

Quiche Niçoise

This style of quiche has a bit of a Mediterranean flavor, using olives, anchovies and tomatoes.

Spinach

Spinach quiche is a popular recipe for its flavor (the vegetable can complement a number of cheeses), and the spinach adds a healthy component to the quiche.

Mushroom

Mushrooms are another common filling for quiche. Saute them in olive oil with shallots before adding to the mixture.

Seafood

Quiches can be made with crab, lobster, shrimp or oysters, either alone or in combination with another seafood.
