Cooking Directions For Lundberg Wild Rice

Wild rice has a delicious nutty flavor.

Wild rice takes a little longer to cook than white rice, but it's well worth the wait. Wild rice, which features a slightly chewy texture when cooked, is not truly rice -- it's the grain from a type of grass grown in the Great Lakes region of North America. Lundberg Family Farms, which is headquartered in Richvale, California, offers several gourmet wild rice products, including organic and a blend with brown rice. It's simple to prepare wild rice -- serve it alongside any meat or fish main course.

Instructions

1. Pour 2 1/3 cups of water, or vegetable or chicken broth, into a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil over high heat.

2. Stir in an 8-oz. package of wild rice and cover the pot.

3. Reduce the heat to medium-high and keep the rice at a fast simmer for 45 to 50 minutes, or until it is tender.

4. Remove from heat and let stand, covered, for 10 minutes.

5. Fluff with a fork. Add salt, ground pepper and other seasonings, such as a dried herb blend, to taste.
