Make Dried Banana Chips

Making a healthy portable snack out of bananas is easy, healthy and kid friendly. Some recipes call for the bananas to be deep fried but that's not necessary. Taking the time to dry out the fruit is not only good for you but good for your wallet. This wholesome treat is also a quick way to get your potassium fix.

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 150 degrees F.

2. Slice the bananas into small pieces about 1/4 inch thick. Spray a flat cooking sheet with oil. Place banana slices onto the sheet. Leave 1 inch between each slice to prevent them from sticking together. Squeeze a lemon over the banana slices to prevent browning.

3. Cook the bananas. It will take one to two hours for the bananas to dry out. Check on the bananas after one hour. You'll want to keep checking until you see that they are completely dry and crisp.

4. Remove from the oven and allow to cool off. Carefully lift slices off of the sheet with a spatula.

5. Package in airtight containers, plastic bags or tins.
