2. Use vegetables like potatoes, eggplant, spinach, cauliflower, peas and beans. Vegetables are part of regular Indian cuisine in main meals and as separate dishes. Many Indian people are vegetarians.


3. Cook meat like chicken and lamb. Some Indian food contains beef and pork. Fish is also found in Indian food as well.

5. Learn curry dishes which can include meat, vegetables and lentils. When using lentils, wash and soak them before using.


6. Cook your Indian food ahead of time and serve it when needed. Some food can be frozen and served at a later date. Some say Indian food makes great leftovers because the food has a longer time to sit in the spices.


7. Serve your main dishes with Indian breads like chapatti and naan bread. Rice, like basmati rice, is served with each meal. There are many ways to cook rice so you don't have to serve it plain each time.


8. Finish your meal with a dessert and fruit. Desserts with almonds, pistachio nuts and coconut are popular. You can even find Indian versions of bread pudding and rice pudding.
