Make Popping Corn

Popcorn is one of the most versatile snack foods. It can be eaten during movies or games and even strung on a Christmas tree. Sometimes, though, you just get tired of the greasy, microwave popcorn. Fortunately, you can make popping corn without the microwave, right on your stovetop. Stovetop popcorn produces a richer flavor than other types of popcorn. So the next time you get the craving for some popcorn, forget the urge to just throw a bag into the microwave; instead, take a little time to produce a high-quality, tasty snack on the stove.

Instructions

Instructions

1. Coat the bottom of a large pot with approximately two to three tablespoons of vegetable oil.

2. Pour the popping corn into the pot; use enough to cover the entire bottom of the pot.

3. Turn the stovetop on, with the burner reaching a medium to medium-high heat.

4. Listen for the first kernel to pop.

5. Place the lid on the pot.

6. Lift the pot slightly off the burner and begin shaking it over the flame, so as to prevent the popcorn from burning. For more tender popcorn, keep lid slightly tilted to allow steam to escape.

7. Shake the pot until you can no longer see or hear the popping corn popping.

8. Turn off the stovetop.

9. Remove the lid and pour the popcorn into a large bowl.
