Make Simple Cole Slaw

Cole slaw is considered a type of salad, originally eaten as a popular Dutch side dish. Today, cole slaw is still eaten as a tasty side dish. It complements almost any food and takes very little time to make. It is most popular at fish fry's or at family cookouts. The tangy, crunchy side item adds an extra zing to your meal. All it takes is a few simple ingredients and about 12 minutes of your time.

Instructions

1. Place cabbage in a large mixing bowl or salad bowl. Add in the grated carrot and diced onion. Gently toss the dry ingredients together until mixed well. Try to keep the carrots and onions evenly distributed throughout the mix as they will tend to want to sit on the bottom of the bowl.

2. In a separate bowl, combine the mayonnaise, vinegar, oil, salt and sugar. Stir the ingredients thoroughly using a spatula.

3. Dump the wet ingredients into the larger bowl with the dry ingredients. Use a spatula to mix the ingredients together. Use large swirling motions with your arm. Make sure the spatula scraps the bottom and sides of the bowl.

4. Keep stirring until the cabbage is completely coated. Taste a small sample to see if the cole slaw salad suits you. If not, you may want to add a pinch more salt or sugar, then stir again. Store in the refrigerator for no more than one week.
