Make A Ketchup & Mustard Bottle Costume

Dress up as your favorite condiment with a homemade costume.

Dress up as a colorful condiment at your next costume party with a simple homemade ketchup or mustard bottle costume. Convince a friend or significant other to dress up with you and make both costumes to complete the set. You can even create a spicy mustard costume or a hot sauce costume using the same method to suit your personal tastes, or create condiment costumes for a large group of people.

Instructions

1. Purchase a sweatshirt and sweat pants to wear underneath your costume. You need red sweats for a ketchup bottle costume and yellow sweats for a mustard bottle costume.

2. Wrap a large piece of craft foam or flexible poster board into a tube large enough to fit over your head and onto your body.

3. Duct tape the tube together on the inside of the tube so that the foam holds its shape but the tape is not visible.

4. Cut arm holes near the top of the foam tube with a craft knife. Try the tube on and make sure that it fits comfortably.

5. Paint the tube with red or yellow craft paints, if necessary. Skip this step if the tube is already the appropriate color.

6. Print a label for your costume onto sticker paper. The label can be for a specific brand of ketchup or mustard or it can simply spell out the name of the condiment.

7. Cut out the label with scissors and peel away the adhesive backing. Press the label onto the front of the tube.

8. Purchase a cone shaped party hat to wear as the spout of your bottle costume. Choose a red hat for a ketchup costume, yellow for a mustard costume or a white hat which can be used with either costume.
